Wesley Hoedt trades Southampton for Celta de Vigo. The six-time Orange-international has signed a lease with an option to buy at the Spanish club on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Hoedt played for Southampton since the summer of 2017, which he took over from Lazio at the time. The defender started his career at AZ. He will be presented in Vigo on Tuesday afternoon.
Hoedt was still a fixture at Southampton at the start of this season, but in the last weeks he did not belong to the selection of the number fifteen of the English Premier League.
In total, Hoedt played 45 official games for Southampton, in which he scored once. His last international match for the Dutch national team dates from September 3, 2017, when Bulgaria was beaten 3-1 in the World Cup qualifying.
Celta has a moderate season. The club of the Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso occupied the seventeenth spot in the Primera División after twenty rounds.
